India market today: Nifty, Sensex and sector indices

Follow major Indian equity benchmarks and review what their movements can—and cannot—tell you.

Market data is supplied by TradingView. Exchange rules determine whether a quote is real-time, delayed, or end-of-day. Prices are informational and are not investment advice.

Understanding the benchmarks

Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex track baskets of large listed Indian companies using different construction rules. Nifty Bank, Nifty IT, and Nifty Pharma provide sector context. A rising headline index does not mean every listed share rose, and a sector index can be concentrated in a small number of large constituents.

Sessions, holidays, and delayed quotes

Indian cash-market hours, pre-open activity, exchange holidays, corporate actions, and data licenses affect what a chart displays. Outside the session, the last visible value may simply be the previous close. Check the widget status and the official NSE or BSE source before treating a number as current.

Common market drivers

Domestic inflation, Reserve Bank of India decisions, government policy, rupee movements, crude-oil prices, foreign and domestic institutional flows, earnings, and global risk sentiment can affect Indian markets. A single-day move rarely proves one explanation by itself.

Not investment advice

NewsCrestle does not select shares, issue targets, execute orders, or assess suitability. Market values can change quickly and losses are possible. Use a regulated professional when personalized financial guidance is needed.
